Drug abuse is not the same thing as drug addiction. The fact of the matter is that drug abuse is not a drug addiction, it is simply a state where a person acts out while under the influence of drugs or they perform risky acts while under the influence.
Drug Abuse Has The Same Consequences As Drug Addiction
Drug abuse may not be the same thing as a drug addiction, but the consequences are almost the same. Problems such as social disorders, problems with your home life, possible run ins with the law, fights for no reason, and overdose are all possible short term side effects of drug abuse. These problems occur because the user does not understand the harm that they are doing to themselves and while under the influence they lose control over their actions.
For the people who are dealing with long term drug abuse problems, they have to deal with many more problems. Health problems are a major side effect of drug abuse. The addict may not be physically addicted, but putting drugs into a person’s system over time will cause the body to react in a negative way. Other than health issues, problems such as life in prison for things such as involuntary man slaughter, death from your unruly behavior while under the influence and loss of care from people that you used to be close too.

Drug abuse is almost worse than a drug addiction. A person that is a drug abuser does not see the problems he or she is causing themselves before it is too late and their future is changed for the worst.
